Christina Mesiti
Christina Mesiti is an artist and guide working directly within public land throughout the intermountain west. She has been living full time in her converted short bus throughout the desert and mountains since 2023, allowing her a deep exploration of solitude and intimacy with wild spaces. Her work uses sculpture and photography to feel geological and botanical time by using her body as a medium for entanglement with plants, rocks, water and weather.
A Fulbright scholar to Mexico, she has shown in places including UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, Locust Projects, Tyler Park Presents and the Brand Library. She has taught at Deep Springs College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, and Pepperdine University and attended residencies at Ucross, Township 10, the Edward Albee Foundation, the Vermont Studio Center, and Art Farm. In 2020, she co-founded the Emplacement Society, an open collective of people taking trips together outside to experiment with collective, somatic knowledge creation at the intersection of art and the environment. She received her MFA from Claremont Graduate University.
